Quality

Here is a quirk about me. "Quality" has never really resounded with me. I haven't seemed to internalize the idea.

It has always been for me that 'you tell me what needs to get done and let's hack our way to getting this thing done'. 'Hack' is a great word for it. For example, in piano. I have never really been into dynamics, or fingering, or note perfection, or staccatos, or any of that. I only have ever been concerned in whatever gets the song out of the piano. Sort of 'lets just learn the notes and move on' type of thing. I only care about the details when it is important for getting to the finish line. Another example: clothes. If they cover my body, are comfortable, and Melodie/Mom don't complain, then we're good.

This has come to my attention because photography is becoming a hobby of mine. But I'm starting to realize that artzy things like photography naturally clash with the personality trait of mine. Photography is about details, getting it to look nice, patiently waiting for all the right conditions; and there isn't really a finish line in photography, its just kind of 'how good can I make this look' type of thing. By nature I just want to be like "Lets just take a picture and get on with it" but I'm realizing I may have to not be that way.

So I'm a hack. In true hack fashion, I'm not going to reread/edit this blog post now that I'm done writing it. Its done, lets move on.

And just for the record I think there's room in the photography field for a "hack", I'm not even kidding.
