So I play guitar. And by "play" I mean "hack at the". But what I lack in raw talent I make up for in loudness. As Dave Barry would say, my talent to noise ratio is very high.
I taught myself guitar about 10-ish years ago. I just taught myself a few simple things and haven't progressed much from there. I've played on an off during that time. I also sing along now with most of the stuff, and I'm just trying to be objective here: I am *probably* the most terrible singer you will ever hear. If you have the misfortune to hear.
Being a guitar hack is fun, which is why I have made this lifestyle choice.

I want to learn. ASAP.
I say, "American Idol or Bust"
I think dabbling in guitar is part of the American college experience. How else are you going to impress cute girls at the ward opening social bonfire?
